Single dental implant with crown — side by side
| Where | Reported cost | Notes & source |
|---|---|---|
| China (public hospitals, official cap) | Up to ¥4,500 (~US$650) capped service fee per tooth; implant and crown materials extra | 2022 national policy capped the medical service fee at tertiary public hospitals — before the cap, service fees alone ran ¥6,000–9,000; bulk procurement has since cut material prices further Source: China State Council policy announcement (Sept 2022) |
| China (indicative, platform-reported) | US$1,350–3,100 per implant (average ~US$2,225) | Medical-tourism platform price table across 8 clinics, indicative only; reflects quotes aimed at international patients and may not match walk-in domestic prices Source: Bookimed platform price table (indicative) |
| United Kingdom (private) | £1,800–3,000 for implant, abutment and crown | Dental-clinic cost guide, 2025; consultations (£100–200), scans (up to £300) and bone grafts (from £450) are billed separately Source: TKC Dental implant cost guide 2025 |
| United Kingdom (NHS, if eligible) | £332.10 Band 3 patient charge | Implants are not routinely funded by the NHS — only in exceptional clinical circumstances — so almost everyone pays private rates Source: NHS dental treatment charges |
| United States | US$3,000–7,000 for implant, abutment and crown | Typical total per tooth; averages run up to ~$4,800, and bone grafts, sinus lifts and sedation are billed on top Source: GoodRx dental implant cost guide |
Who this is for
People who have watched a “flew to China for major dental work” video and want to know what one implant — the most common single item in those treatment plans — actually costs in each system. The videos in our library document the experience of dental trips to Chongqing, Nanjing and Anhui province; this page puts regulated and platform-reported China prices next to UK and US figures, with sources, so you can size the gap yourself.
Read the numbers carefully
- The China rows mix two very different things: an official government cap on service fees at public hospitals, and indicative platform quotes aimed at foreign patients. Your actual bill depends on city, hospital tier and whether you choose a domestic or imported implant system.
- The UK private figure is a clinic-published range, not a national tariff, and extras (imaging, grafts) are common. The NHS band charge is nearly irrelevant here because implants are rarely funded.
- The US range is wide because materials and geography dominate: a zirconia crown in a coastal metro sits near the top of the range, and dental insurance annual maximums typically cover only a fraction of the total.
- Aftercare matters as much as the sticker: implants can fail, and follow-up from another country is hard. Cost is one axis — see our guides before making any decision.
